Idli Upma


  • Leftover idlis
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 1/2 tbsp urad dal
  • 1/2 tbsp channa dal
  • 3 Dry red chillies
  • Some curry leaves
  • 1 Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • Salt to taste


Mash leftover idlis by hand till they break to small pieces.

Heat oil in the vessel.

Add mustard, urad dal, channa dal, red chillies and curry leaves.

Wait until the mustard seeds crackle and the urad dal turns healthy golden colour.

Add onion and turmeric powder for a desired colour.

Once the onions turn brown, mix the mashed idlis and add salt.
